The Indonesia’s conservation forest of Bukit Tigapuluh National Park (BTNP) was established in 1995, covering a total area of approximately 144,000 hectares. BTNP is rich in biological diversity and represents a complex habitat of flora and fauna which includes many endangered and protected species. BTNP is also the home to traditional people: Kubu, Talang Mamak and Melayu Tua. They have been living in some parts of BTNP area for hundreds of years with their rich traditions, passed on from generation to generation.
The wealth of biological diversity and indigenous people with their knowledge about the utilization on many kinds of forest resources are included among the key assets of the national park; waiting to be tapped by not only school children and students, but by researchers as well.
BTNP is regularly visited by local as well as foreign visitors. Even so, only a little information has been developed about the area. The development of this website aims to provide more detailed information about the BTNP for those who want to become more familiar. It is hoped that the website will also result in a higher volume of visitors to the BTNP in the future years.
We are grateful to all who has supported Bukit Tigapuluh conservation, especially those who have given their contributions to the development of this booklet in terms of ideas, photographs, critics and suggestions. Finally, we hope this website will be useful to all concerned.
